Materials You'll Need
- 1 sheet of 7-count plastic canvas
- Red, white, and green yarn
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Black felt-tip marker
- Hot glue gun
- Candy cane
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Cut a 4-inch by 6-inch rectangle from the plastic canvas.
- Start by stitching a row of red yarn around the edges of the rectangle, leaving a 1-inch opening at the top for the candy cane.
- Next, stitch a row of white yarn around the inside of the rectangle, leaving a 1-inch opening at the bottom for the Santa's hat.
- Now, stitch a row of green yarn around the inside of the white yarn, leaving a 1-inch opening at the top for the Santa's head.
- To make the Santa's hat, cut a 2-inch by 3-inch triangle from red felt. Fold the triangle in half and stitch the edges together. Turn the hat right side out and slip it over the top of the Santa's head.
- To make the Santa's beard, cut a 1-inch by 2-inch rectangle from white felt. Fold the rectangle in half and stitch the edges together. Turn the beard right side out and glue it to the bottom of the Santa's face.
- To make the Santa's mustache, cut a small piece of black felt. Glue the mustache to the Santa's face, just above the beard.
- To make the Santa's eyes, draw two small black circles on the Santa's face with a black felt-tip marker.
- To finish off the Santa, hot glue a candy cane to the back of his head.
Tips for Customizing Your Candy Cane Santas
- You can use any color yarn you like to make your Candy Cane Santas. Red, white, and green are traditional, but you could also use blue, pink, purple, or any other color you like.
- You can also add other embellishments to your Candy Cane Santas, such as buttons, sequins, or beads.
- If you don't have any plastic canvas, you can use cardboard or foam board instead.
- You can make Candy Cane Santas of any size you like. Just adjust the size of the plastic canvas and the amount of yarn you use.
