About the Author

Sam Sax is a poet and teacher with over 20 years of experience. He is the author of several books of poetry, including The Year of the Dog and The Impossible Shape of the World.

Sax is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop and has taught creative writing at the University of Iowa, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Sax is a recipient of the Whiting Award and the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. His work has been published in The New Yorker, Harper's, and The Atlantic.
