In the Dream House is a haunting memoir of love, madness, and the hidden violence of domestic abuse. Carmen Maria Machado's critically acclaimed and bestselling memoir is a powerful, poetic, and deeply personal account of her experience in an abusive relationship.
Machado's writing is lyrical and evocative, and she uses her personal experience to explore the larger societal issues of domestic abuse and violence against women. She writes about the ways in which abuse can be hidden, the ways in which it can be normalized, and the ways in which it can destroy lives.
In the Dream House is a difficult book to read, but it is also an important one. It is a book that will stay with you long after you finish it, and it is a book that will change the way you think about domestic abuse.
